Oracle, Outhink Media, and University of California, Santa Barbara Sponsor Event Showcasing Ways That Young People Can Contribute To the Health of the Bay and Oceans

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Outhink Media will premiere the documentary “Students Saving the Ocean” as part of an event showcasing DigitalOcean, an online social networking community being developed to promote ocean sustainability. The event takes place on Sunday, November 8 at 3:00 at Theater 39, located on Pier 39 in San Francisco.

“Wow! The documentary is fabulous!! Outhink has done a great job helping connect our students with these important issues. It is exciting to see our students learn how the Bay and Oceans are so inter-related”
The documentary and event are meant to build further awareness for UCSB’s DigitalOcean network, a virtual commons that connects scientists and enthusiasts around the health of the ocean and provides resources to advance ocean sustainability.

“Students Saving the Ocean” is a documentary based on the book “50 Ways to Save the Ocean”, written by David Helvarg, who is working with Outhink Media and UC Santa Barbara on promoting the DigitalOcean Network. “Students Saving the Ocean” highlights several chapters from Mr. Helvarg’s book, and is narrated by Bay Area students, aquarium officials and members of local and global organizations that are focused on the health of the bay and oceans, including the Bay Institute, California Academy of Science, and Environmental Justice for Bayview Hunters Point. “We are grateful to the students, teachers, scientists and important Bay Area institutions, aquariums and organizations that made this documentary possible. We also thank Oracle for their support and dedication to introducing K-12 students to the broader issue of sustainability, and specifically for sponsoring this event to promote UC Santa Barbara’s global sustainability efforts spearheaded by the DigitalOcean network,” said Dave Toole, UCSB alumnus and CEO of Outhink Media.

This event is sponsored with lead support from Oracle and Outhink Media, with additional support from Aquarium of the Bay, The Bay Institute, and the Blue Frontier Campaign.
